According to a story published by National Public Radio (“NPR”), Google has dismissed a female researcher named Timnit Gebru who appears to have been one of the leaders in tackling issues on the company’s Ethical Artificial Intelligence team. Google has come under fire in the last couple of years for its lack of hiring, retaining and promoting female employees and people from ethnic backgrounds. At the present time, Google is engaged in an antitrust legal complaint with the U.S. Justice Department that involves 48 other states. Read more
